Pickle and Pal Awards

The University Unions is proud to be the home of two student awards that honor the leadership and commitment to service that our students exemplify.  Applications and nominations for the J.J. "Jake" Pickle Citizenship Award and Pal – Make a Difference Award are accepted in the month of February.

The 2017 application period is now OPEN! Applications can be picked up in the University Unions Executive Director's Office (UNB 4.124). The deadline for both awards is Friday, March 3 at 5:00 pm.

The J. J. "Jake" Pickle Citizenship Award is presented annually to a student at UT Austin whose cumulative, notable contributions to UT campus life best exemplify the high standards of leadership and service that were the hallmarks of the life and career of Congressman J. J. "Jake" Pickle. The endowed award was created in 1999 by the University Unions Advisory Council.

The Pal—Make A Difference Award is presented annually to a student at UT Austin whose individual program or initiative has made a significant contribution to UT campus life or the broader community. The endowed award was established in 2006 by University Unions Advisory Council member Jaspreet Singh Pal (BBA '95) to promote university leadership and public service.
