SECL Presents: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
7 to 8:30 p.m.
Hogg Memorial Auditorium

We invite you to join Student Endowed Centennial Lectureship for an evening with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is internationally known as “Africa’s Iron Lady,” a 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Grand Croix of the Légion d’Honneur recipient, and one of Forbes’ “100 Most Powerful Women in the World.” President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is a leading promoter of freedom, peace, justice, women’s empowerment, and democratic rule. As Africa’s first democratically-elected female head of state, she led Liberia through reconciliation and recovery following the nation’s decade-long civil war, as well as the Ebola Crisis, winning international acclaim for achieving economic, social, and political change.

SECL was established in 1983 as a gift from students in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of The University of Texas at Austin. SECL exposes students to a wide range of philosophies, perspectives, and issues through access to and close contact with persons who have attained distinction in their field. The SECL council supervises all operations including programming, solicitation and selection of speaker, advertising, administrative relations, and management of all other aspects related to the visit of the speaker.

Doors open at 6:30pm and this event is free for you with a valid UT ID.

There will be a Q&A portion of this event.
