Beginning in 2014, the University Unions Mentorship Program connects students to a community of University Unions alumni and a variety of career mentoring opportunities. These connections are crucial to enhancing a student’s professional identity, smooth transition after graduation, and serve as sources of information, ideas, and opportunities. In addition to the individual mentor pairings, the program offers opportunities for alumni and students to attend workshops, networking events, and public service activities to enhance leadership and communications skills for participants and encourage their citizenship and support of their local communities.

Alumni or students interested in learning more about the program can contact Megan McMillin at (512) 475-6600.

Testimonials

2014-15 Mentorship Student

The Unions Mentorship Program provided me the professional guidance I needed to secure an internship and my current job. I am extremely grateful for experiences with my mentor. From reviewing my resume to helping me think about my interests/passions and strategize next steps, my mentor was someone I could count on and, more importantly, I knew he was invested in my growth. I think the Unions Mentorship Program is a great way to give back to the Unions community, especially for those alumni who do not live in Texas.

2015-16 Mentorship Student

The Unions Mentorship Program is a great program that promotes and facilitates great relationships among students and past Alumni. I had the blessing of having an extraordinary mentor. Not only did she help me outline realistic goals and visions for myself, but she helped me get there. I'll never forget her giving me the courage to believe in myself. What's even better than the educational and career support she provided, is the emotional support she was able to show me.
