The Student Events Funding Committee (SEFC) provides financial support to registered student organizations (RSOs) at UT Austin to elevate the events they host on campus. Every year, members of SEFC allocate $71,000 in funding to support on campus events. Many organizations seek SEFC funding, thus we carefully consider every application to determine eligibility, event quality and necessity of funds.

How to Apply

Funding applications are accepted all year long. SEFC requires that applications are submitted and that the RSO must present at an SEFC meeting at least 6 weeks before a planned event and encourages organizations to make sure their requests meet our funding guidelines.

APPLY TODAY!

  1. Fill out the SEFC funding application. Please take careful note of any restrictions or conditions on funding! As a university funded organization there are specific guidelines we have to follow when it comes to allocating funds. We want your application to succeed, so be sure to review funding guidelines carefully before submission.
  2. Once your application is approved by our advisor, you will be contacted to schedule a presentation time. Our advisor will check to make sure that the event is following university guidelines detailed in the application and that we can fund the items you are requesting. They may contact you with follow up questions to clarify if the event meets specific criteria before sending you an invite to schedule your presentation so be sure to keep an eye out for any emails from us.
  3. Present to the Board. You will have 10 minutes to present to the Committee at one of our weekly meetings between 5:30-7:00 PM. This will include 5 minutes of your organization’s representatives presenting about your event and 5 minutes of Q&A from Committee members. In your presentation we are looking to hear about how the money we allocate will genuinely help improve the quality of the event you’re hosting and about how the event enriches student life on campus. The questions we ask will be centered around making sure that our mission of following University guidelines and improving student life will be achieved by supporting your event. Make sure to come prepared with the financial and advertising details of the event. Note that we don’t allow slides, but feel free to bring printed presentation materials.
  4. Receive a funding decision. Within one calendar day, you should receive a funding decision with the amount allocated to your event, an event contact and necessary next steps. Reach out to zoe.smiley@austin.utexas.edu and StudentPrograms@universityunions.utexas.edu if you have not received your funding application within one calendar day.
  5. Funding Process. Your event contact (an SEFC member) will inform you of any necessary forms and financial information we need from your organization to make payments. Any money we have allocated to your event will be spent by SEFC directly. If you have ordered event supplies, they will be available for pick-up from the main E+E office. If you are requesting a payment be made to a venue or vendor, SEFC will pay them directly after the event’s completion.
